'The Hoog' in The Assembly Rooms
Teannaich
This young and energetic five piece Ceilidh band formed back in 1996. They pull influences from Jazz, Rock, Funk and Folk, but have a solid basis in traditional Scottish and Irish folk tunes. Over the years they have become a regular in many of the top venues throughout Scotland, playing at The Cally Brewery, Edinburgh The Riverside Club, Glasgow and Celtic Connections. They have a very keen following and are one of the busiest ceilidh bands we know.
Teannaich were a HUGE hit at last years Hoog and are back in full effect in The Music Room.
Blaze in the Bothy
With a drummer that has toured with Jeremy Clarkson on Top Gear playing percussion on car parts, an RSAMD mini kilt wearing fiddler with a whalebone shaped fiddle and Iain MacPhail (his dad is the Queens official Balmoral maestro dude) on accordion and calling you are in for a grand night indeed in The Ballroom. You may also recognise this band from The Scottish Beef advert not sure if "Mr Scottish Beef" is turning up though!
'The Family Hoog' in The Assembly Rooms
Whisky Kiss
Whisky Kiss have been described as the best ceilidh band in the world (the words of Scotland's First Minister no less). They showcase the kind of world class talent that is in Scotland today. Their drummer has played with Lou Reed, the fiddler with Smokey Robinson and Kanye West (as well as with the SCO, RSNO and all of Scotland's top orchestras). Throw in pipes, whistles and bass and accordions and you can see why Whisky Kiss are at the cutting edge of ceilidh, taking it to different places and to a different level - this is Scottish music with worldwide appeal.
Their DJs are the best going...you'll recognise them from Edinburgh's best known House club nights and have monthly residences at several clubs, including the Liquid Rooms. They are famed for their blend of funky, cutting edge house and unique, inventive style.
Our club - true to the essence of the Highland ceilidh, this is a club where everyone's welcome...this club is cool for novices and afficionados alike.
This special Family Hoog is being held at the Assembly Rooms in aid of the Bethany Christian Trust. So polish up your pas de bas and get into the new ceilidh groove.
